Information Meeting

The Lizard Head Hockey Club hosts a Mandatory Annual Informational Meeting: October 10th @ 5:30 PM at the Library Program Room. 

Equipment Swap 

The Lizard Head Hockey Club hosts a yearly hockey swap for players of all ages. Hockey Swap: Wednesday, October 2nd. Starting @5:30 PM- 7 PM at the Hanley Rink. Get all your gear in one convenient location. Mini & Mite Rental Bags will be distributed at this event. 

Board members and recreation staff are also available to answer questions.

Important Information: 
  • Programs are available for players with birth years 2001 – 2014. (If your skater is younger, please contact Grayson @
  • NEW THIS YEAR: all players born in 2002 or before are required to complete Safe Sport training after registering with USA Hockey and prior to participating in the season’s activities.  The registration number from USA Hockey and the exact name used to register are required to complete the Safe Sport training.
  • All new players must bring an original, color copy of their birth certificate or passport to the office for date of birth verification before the start of the season. 
  • Those wishing to play for the “A” team will need to participate in try-outs; others can sign up for the “B” or ”In-House” teams without trying-out.
  • Only those participants who pre-registered with the hockey club are guaranteed a spot on a travel team.
  • Please note that those registering for the “In-House” program are only entitled to 2 set practices per week versus 3 practices per week offered to all of the different “Travel” teams.
  • Participants in travel programs need to have a black helmet and breezers along with home and away jerseys and socks with matching numbers.  Uniforms are available for purchase on the hockey club’s website:
  • A practice schedule that will be updated throughout the season is available through the “Schedules” link at the top of the Telluride Parks & Recreation online registration webpage.
  • Additional program information such as club documents and game schedules can be found on the club’s website at
  • There will be a Hockey Gear Swap in the Hanley Rink Lobby on October 2nd, 2019 at 5:30pm7:00pm.
  • A member of each family should attend the mandatory annual informational meeting on October 10th, 2019 at 5:30pm at the Library Program Room.
  • Players ages 8 and younger will be divided into progression levels:

o   Level 1 - Mini Mites (ages 5-8)

o   Level 2 – Mites (ages 7-8)

  • The registration deadline is October 14th, 2019 at 3:00pm.

Financial Aid

The Club has resources available for those who might need a little boost to participate in our program.  Whether it is for equipment scholarships or registration fees, we encourage anyone in need of help to apply.  The school lunch program has been the traditional measuring stick; however, we hope to be able to make provisions for any member that can demonstrate a true need.  All requests will be kept strictly confidential.  Applications are available on this website and need to be turned in to either Parks and Rec or via email to no later than August 21st, 2019.

Beyond this deadline there is no guarantee of assistance however, please submit the below application to the Hockey Board for consideration.
